39th International Congress

Pueri Cantores of the world will be gathering in Paris from July 9th to July 13th 2014 for an international assembly based on the theme of a return to it’s roots. Indeed, it was in Paris that Msgr. Fernand Maillet, the director of the Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois, first had the idea in 1947 of forming a federation of choirs in France and throughout the entire world, so as to emphasize the educational value of choral music, singing the glory of God, and promoting peace around the globe.

The History of these Congresses

To belong to the Pueri Cantores is to become a citizen of the world, singing for peace, experiencing other cultures and discovering the international and multicultural nature of music. It is in accordance with these aims that international congresses are organized. Most recently international congresses have convened in Washington D.C., Granada, Rome, Cracow, and Cologne.

How the organization got its name

To encourage children throughout the world to sing the peace of God : this was the motto of Monsignor Maillet. It was this motto that served as the guiding principle behind the tours of his Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois. It is this principle that still guides all the choirs of young singers (Pueri Cantores).
